75th Republic Day: French President Macron extends wishes, greets ‘dear friend’ PM Modi | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: French President Emmanuel Macron extended Republic Day wishes to the people of India and expressed his happiness over being part of the Republic Day celebrations in Delhi.
Macron, who is the chief guest at the 75th Republic Day celebrations, arrived in Jaipur on Thursday. He was given a warm reception and held bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, discussing a wide range of bilateral and global issues.
Macron called Prime Minister Modi a “dear friend” and took to X to post, “My dear friend @NarendraModi, Indian people, My warmest wishes on your Republic Day. Happy and proud to be with you. Let’s celebrate!”

This visit by Macron marks the 25th anniversary celebrations of the Strategic Partnership between India and France. It is also the sixth time that a French leader is participating in India’s biggest ceremonial event, reflecting the strong bond between the two nations.
Prime Minister Modi and President Macron have engaged in high-profile meetings throughout 2023, underscoring the strength and depth of the bilateral relationship. Their interactions have taken place on various global platforms, including the COP 28 Summit, the G20 Leaders’ Summit, and the G7 Summit.
President Macron was also the Guest of Honour at the Bastille Day Celebrations in France in July 2023. Prime Minister Modi’s visit to France for Bastille Day was a spectacle of symbolism and substance, showcasing the strong ties between the two nations.
During the visit, Prime Minister Modi was honored with the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour, a prestigious recognition in France. A State Banquet and a private dinner highlighted the grandeur of the occasion.
Two key roadmaps, the India-France Horizon 2047 Roadmap and the Indo-Pacific Roadmap, were adopted, further strengthening the strategic partnership. Several agreements and announcements were made, covering areas such as technology, aviation, and space cooperation.
The visit of President Macron to India for the Republic Day celebrations is a significant milestone in the bilateral relationship and highlights the ongoing collaboration between India and France.
