Conviction rate high in Parvathipuram district: SP Vikrant Patil | India News – Times of India

PARVATHIPURAM: The district superintendent of Police Vikrant Patil said that convictions had come in 17 grievous crime cases in the district as part of conviction-based policing in the AP. Most of the cases are crimes against women and children. Twenty years of conviction was pronounced in seven cases and also life imprisonment.
Disclosing the crime against women, SP Vikrant Patil told media persons that around 35% of the dip in the cases (24) was against the 37 in 2022.Even the number of Pocso cases number was also dipped by 38% (18 cases) compared to 29 in 2022. The kidnap of minor girls cases had also come down to 55% (9 cases) as against 20 in the previous year.
He said road accident cases were increased by 3% (275 cases in which 95 died and 389 injured) as against the 267 cases (77 died and 437 injured). As part of enforcement cases for road safety, 2781 drunken driver cases were registered as against 125 in the previous year and 10054 cases of drinking in open places were registered.
The SP said that 88 persons were traced out of 100 missing cases compared to 115 out of 127 in the previous year. Cops seized 205kgs ganja in 14 cases by arresting 27 people. A total of 540 cases of arrack cases were registered and 15,914 liters of arrack was seized by arresting 609 accused. The special enforcement bureau had registered 673 cases and seized 23,679 liters of arrack by arresting 803 persons.
