PATNA: BJP has planned to organise a mega function to honour the newly appointed Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav, at SKM Memorial Hall in Patna on January 18, which political analysts see as the saffron party’s bid to reach out to the politically significant Yadav caste voters in the run-up to the upcoming general elections, reports Manoj Chaurasia.
Yadavs, who account for a little over 14% of state’s total population – as per the latest caste survey report – are considered the traditional vote bank of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, to whose camp BJP lost its erstwhile NDA ally, JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar.
RJD, meanwhile, mocked BJP for inviting the MP CM to the state asking if the party had lost faith in the Yadav leaders hailing from Bihar. ” BJP’s move to invite Mohan Yadav to Bihar is not going to have any impact on the 2024 elections. RJD is not a party of Muslim-Yadav (MY) but of A to Z,” state minister of sports and arts, culture and youth affairs Jitendra Kumar Rai said.
Bihar BJP said it wanted to felicitate the MP CM because it was impressed by his progress from a simple party worker to the top post in the state.
