New Delhi: Amid speculations that one from the Gandhi family may opt for Rajya Sabha berth coming up in Himachal Pradesh, Congress state president Pratibha Singh on Tuesday added to the discussion by saying that Sonia Gandhi or Priyanka Gandhi Vadra can be fielded from the state, if they so wish.
Pratibha Singh told reporters, “It is possible. We will discuss with them, and if they find it appropriate, this seat can be given to them.”
Sonia, a five-term Lok Sabha MP and now representing Raebareli, had withdrawn from day-to-day politics for health reasons. If she does opt for RS, the key question will be if Priyanka would replace her in the LS polls. The other possibility, given Pratibha’s affirmative statement, is that Priyanka Gandhi comes to the RS, while Sonia contests from the family borough again.
