Noted physicist Bikash Sinha passes away | India News – Times of India

KOLKATA: Physicist Bikash Chandra Sinha, the face of India’s scientific endeavours and a force behind the country’s participation in the high-profile global research for ‘God’s particle’ at CERN near Geneva, passed away here on Friday, report Prithvijit Mitra & Subhro Niyogi. The veteran nuclear physicist who specialised in high energy physics was 78 and is survived by his wife, son and daughter.

Sinha was the chairman of the board of governors of the National Institute of Technology, Durgapur. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2003 and Padma Bhushan in 2010.
