Nothing but vote-bank politics: BJP | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: BJP on Monday accused Congress of being driven by petty vote-bank politics in its stand on terrorism and the Israel-Hamas war and asked when was the last time its senior-most leader wrote in the media on an international conflict.
BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi‘s sharp attack on Congress came after Sonia Gandhi said in a newspaper article her party is “strongly opposed” to India’s abstention on the recent UN resolution which called for humanitarian pause in the Israeli ground offensive against Hamas but made no mention of the latter’s brutality in massacring innocent civilians, including old, children and women many of whom were raped and abducted.
The government maintains that the absence of any mention of the October 7 attack on Israel by Hamas terrorists in the UN resolution was the reason for India’s abstention as “there can be no equivocation on terror.”
Trivedi’s attack came even as BJP attacked the silence of Congress and CPM on the virtual participation of Hamas leader Khalid Mashal in a conference organised in Kerala by youth wing of Jamaat-i-Islami.
