MUMBAI: The Mumbai crime branch on Sunday arrested a 35-year-old man, who works at a software company, from Pune for allegedly issuing death threats on social media to NCP chief Sharad Pawar. The accused, Sagar Barve, was produced before the Esplanade court, which remanded him in police custody till June 13.
A crime branch officer said, “We had received two social media posts; one of them was posted by Barve on Facebook. An inquiry into the threat posted on Twitter is still on.” In his threat message on Facebook, Barve allegedly wrote: “He (Pawar) will meet the same fate as (Narendra) Dabholkar soon.”
“We arrested Barve on Sunday morning. His mobile phone has been seized. He is not cooperating in the probe,” said a crime branch officer.
