Punjab cops bust racket smuggling drugs, arms | India News – Times of India

AMRITSAR: Police on Sunday said they busted a cross-border drug and arms smuggling racket, with the arrest of 2 key operators of a US-based smuggler and recovered 19 kg heroin, 7 pistols, and Rs 23 lakh in cash from the suspects.
Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, commissioner of police, Amritsar, said the suspects are Sandeep Singh alias Laddi, a resident of Guru ki Wadali, Amritsar, and Roshan, a resident of Heir, Amritsar.
The drug racket is being operated by US-based smuggler, Manpreet alias Mannu Mahawa, Bhullar said.
Bhullar said police teams recovered 19 kg heroin, Rs 23 lakh in cash, 7 pistols – including one sophisticated 9mm Glock, three .30 bore pistols, and three .32 bore pistols – along with Pakistan-stamped ammunition, a currency counting machine, drone equipment, including a remote controller and spare fans, from the possession of the duo. Police impounded a Hyundai Verna in which the suspects were going to supply the consignment and registered a case against the duo under the NDPS Act.
