INDORE: An Indore court on Thursday sentenced a 20-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for repeatedly raping a minor girl and forcing her to convert. It’s the first conviction under MP Religious Freedom Act, 2021, said the Indore district prosecution office, reports Antriksh Singh.
The court of special judge (Pocso) Surekha Mishra sentenced Md Sabbir, a resident of Indore, to 20 years’ RI each under IPC for repeated rape of the same person, and under Pocso Act for aggravated sexual assault. The convict was ordered to pay a fine of Rs 56,000, which will be given to the survivor, and a compensation of Rs 50,000
