NEW DELHI: As the caste survey undertaken by the state government in Bihar is over and the data is being analysed, the Supreme Court on Wednesday again refused to pass any interim order to restrain government from moving ahead with the process.
A bench of justices Sanjiv Khanna and SVN Bhatti turned down the plea by one of the advocates appearing against Bihar government’s decision to hold a caste survey. The bench said it did not go through the affidavit filed by the Centre in the case as there was a request for adjournment by one of the parties in the case. It posted the case for hearing next month.
The Patna HC had on August 1 dismissed a batch of PILs challenging the validity of the Bihar caste survey.
