PUNE: The Sharad Pawar camp of NCP has engaged its functionaries from north India to start the party’s preparations to contest some seats in Haryana and Rajasthan assembly polls. Some politicians from northern states have been called to Mumbai to discuss the issue of getting seats for NCP under INDIA in Haryana and Rajasthan when its allies meet on August 31 and September 1.
Sonia Doohan, in-charge of NCP’s central office in New Delhi, told TOI: “I will be travelling to Mumbai on Thursday to participate in INDIA leaders’ meet. NCP will definitely contest in some seats in Haryana. The party leaders will also hold dialogues with INDIA partners for Rajasthan polls.”
Since NCP has lost its national party status, its senior functionaries are eager to regain it. “We do not want to restrict ourselves to Maharashtra and we are making efforts to get back the tag of national party. Preparations in other states are aimed in that direction only. Pawar saheb will soon be holding meetings with party workers of other states for the assembly elections in Haryana and Rajasthan,” a senior politician of the Pawar camp said.
After Ajit Pawar joined hands with the Shinde Sena and BJP, senior Pawar has been touring various districts of the state to gather support for his camp.
