GUWAHATI: Two persons were killed and four others, including a junior commissioned officer (JCO) of Army, injured in two separate incidents of firing between two groups in Manipur’s Imphal East and Kangpokpi districts on Tuesday in continuing violence in the trouble-torn state.
The first incident of firing took place in Khamenlok area in Imphal East, resulting in death of a 25-year-old youth, identified as Sagolsem Loya of Pukhao Santipur.The JCO and three others were injured in the firing that has been on intermittently since Saturday.
“The JCO has been evacuated to hospital in Leimakhong Military Station by a helicopter and his condition is stable,” police said.
In the second incident, a 33-year-old youth, identified as Demkhogin Khngsai, was killed in violence at Satang in Kangpokpi district.
