As you can see from the screenshot, you can use various formatting syntaxes or shortcuts to use this feature on WhatsApp. Here is a brief explanation of how it works: –

  • Code Block: You can turn your text into a code block by enclosing the sentence with the “`” symbol before and after it.
  • Quote Block: To add a quote block, start and end a message with the symbol “>”.
  • Ordered Lists: To create a bulleted list, use either the “-” or “*” symbol before a sentence. To create a numbered list, just type in the number to start making the list.

Apart from these tools, WhatsApp offers four other different text formatting options to help you make your messages stand out. You can use bold to highlight important information, italics for subtle emphasis, strikethrough to retract statements, and monospace for code snippets.
