WhatsApp makes it better to create custom sticker on iOS – Times of India

WhatsApp’s rival platforms — Telegram and Signal — have been offering ways to create custom stickers on their platforms. To counter that, WhatsApp also started testing the sticker maker on iOS and allowed select beta users to create custom stickers from their own photos. Now, the company seems to be working on making the entire process better than before.
WABetaInfo has reported that WhatsApp has made some changes to the sticker maker to make the entire process of creating stickers from the photos easier and faster. For those who are unaware, the sticker maker feature on WhatsApp will be based on iOS 16 API that allows users to extract the subject right from the images captured in the Portrait mode by long-pressing on them. Users will have to extract the subject from any image and then it will automatically get converted into a sticker in the app.
According to the screenshot posted by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has added a dedicated New Sticker option within the chat share action menu. The option was earlier missing and users had to rely directly on the Photos app to create the stickers.
Going forward, using the New Sticker option, users will be able to choose the photos from the gallery and it will remove the background and make optimisations to convert it into stickers. WhatsApp will also offer some edit options including the ability to remove the background.
Do note that the New Stickers option is currently in the testing phase and only let beta testers try out the feature.
WhatsApp has rolled out chat lock feature
After testing the Chat Lock feature, WhatsApp has finally rolled out the Chat Lock feature on both Android and iOS. The feature allows users to lock individual chats for added security. The feature works for both individual chats as well as groups.
