JAIPUR: A 20-year-old youth who killed his parents and sister with a sharp axe on Sunday in Padukalan town in Nagaur district in Rajasthan was a mobile phone addict and used to be on it for more than 15-16 hours a day, police said.
Cops are probing whether the accused, Mohit, was addicted to any violent online games or content, leading to behavioral changes and health issues.
“We are quizzing the accused. His phone has shown up a history of web searches for methods of suicide. After killing his parents and sister, he attempted suicide by jumping into a homemade tank at night, but he was not successful. The accused has no remorse over the murders. He looks mentally unstable, from his body language,” said a police officer.
Initial probe revealed that the accused, a 2nd-year college student, first killed his mother and sister, Rajesh Kanwar and Priyanka Kanwar, respectively, who were sleeping in a room, by attacking them with an axe. When his father, Dilip Singh, awoke to the commotion, Mohit attacked and killed him.
